  SwingFest
August 30, 2008
5:30 p.m.
Coolidge Park

Kick off your Labor Day weekend with an evening full of music and dancing as the Chattanooga Downtown Partnership presents Swingfest on Saturday, August 30, in Coolidge Park.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., Swingfest 2008, will feature performances by some of Chattanooga’s largest swing orchestras. These bands consist of accomplished local professional musicians, music teachers and band directors, and feature well known performers.

Everyone is invited to bring a blanket and enjoy the cross section of traditional and contemporary arrangements of jazz and swing, including the popular music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Glen Miller. A wooden dance floor will be set up in front of the stage to encourage every generation of attendee to demonstrate their love of swing dancing.

A select number of food and drink vendors will be on site for the convenience and comfort of attendees. Merchants on River Street will also be open for business. Parking at Coolidge Park is limited, so attendees are encouraged to park at UNUM parking lots at the corner of 3rd and Cherry Streets and walk across Walnut Street Bridge to the show.
