Featuring a wide variety of headline performances by world-class musicians from around the globe every Friday evening from Memorial Day weekend through the last weekend of September 26 at Miller Plaza.
Shows begin at 7:00 PM with a local opening act, followed by the evening's headline performer at 8:00 PM.
This Austin, Texas band plays music rooted in early 20th centuryAmerican musical forms. While their humor is sometimes irreverent (this will be one of their G-rated shows), the band is known for its musicianship, theatricality and militant acousticism.
A New Orleans based brass-funk-rock outfit, Bonerama presents a "trombone summit" featuring a four horn frontline with a solid rock & roll foundation. A must-see show that earned the "Best Rock Band" honor at the 2007 Big Easy Awards.
A new voice in old-school soul, Texas artist Ruthie Foster has been soaring for years as a gifted singer/songwriter, until recently known mostly in the folk circuit. Now an experienced craftsperson, she’s successfully stretched her wings as a blues/soul/R&B singer reminiscent of ’60s and ‘70s style of Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack and Nina Simone.
By any measure, the Claire Lynch Band is high on the bluegrass world’s A-list, with musicians whose individual accolades are too numerous to quantify. Lynch’s music is seasoned with a down-home sensibility, and her voice is described by Dolly Parton as “one of the sweetest, purest and best lead voices in the music business today.”
My favorite was Francine Reed with Java Monkey. She is not on the list so that I may vote for her.
