Nightfall - September
Celebrate the 20th season of Nightfall in 2008!
Featuring a wide variety of headline performances by world-class musicians from around the globe every Friday evening from Memorial Day weekend through the last weekend of September 26 at Miller Plaza.

Shows begin at 7:00 PM with a local opening act, followed by the evening's headline performer at 8:00 PM.
Headline Act: Blue Mountain
Opening Act: Uncle Lightnin’

Formed in Oxford, Mississippi, the trio of Cary Hudson, Frank Coutch and Laurie Stirratt (twin sister of John Stirratt, bass player for the like-minded Americana band Wilco), is rightly considered one of the pioneering groups of the alt-country movement of the mid-1990s.

Headline Act: Basia Bulat
Opening Act: Land Camera

Arguably one of the most exciting Canadian acts of late,  Basia Bulat  performs playful and catchy pop/folk melodies that linger in your mind.  This singer songwriter and her band combine a variety of strings, acoustic guitar, and a frantic drum-kit gallop to create their sound, which is heavily influenced by the boisterous music of the sixties.

Headline Act: Belleville Outfit
Opening Act: Lou Wamp & Swing Shift
This startling Austin-based six piece band (guitar, fiddle, drums, piano, upright bass) formed just last year at Merlefest and has gone on to receive critical acclaim. Their tight, seamless, acoustic sound blends gypsy swing, bluegrass, big band jazz and Americana roots music.
Headline Act: Big Al Anderson & The Balls
Opening Act: Lumbar Five

Al Anderson was named one of the 100 greatest guitarists of the 20th century by Guitar Player magazine as well as Nashville songwriter of the year, but his 23 years on the road with NRBQ gave him legendary status with music fans from coast to coast. He brings an all-star band to Nightfall for a rare, jaw-dropping public performance.

My favorite was Francine Reed with Java Monkey. She is not on the list so that I may vote for her.
