Siskin Children’s Institute will host a program entitled “Strengthening Your Marriage When You Have a Child with a Disability,” this Tuesday, August 26th from 6:30 to 8 PM. For more information, please call 648-1757.
 
On Wednesday, August 27th, from 5 to 6 PM, the UTC Office of the Chancellor will host a brief program and reception to dedicate the newest addition of public art to the UTC / Cress Gallery of Art Permanent Collection. Allied Arts will hold its annual Arts Education Expo for local educators and the general public on Thursday, August 28th, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Hunter Museum of American Art.  Local artists and representatives from local arts organizations will be at the Expo to share information about programs and services that enhance student learning. The Chattanooga Downtown Partnership continues the Friday Market and concludes the Rhythm & Noon Concerts, at Miller Plaza this Friday, August 29th. From 11 AM to 2 PM, enjoy a Friday Market in Miller Plaza’s Waterhouse Pavilion featuring a variety of items for sale including fresh produce, canned goods, artisan breads homemade candles, furniture, flowers, glass and jewelry. The FREE Rhythm & Noon Concert Series will feature the Dixieland sounds of the River City Redhots on the BlueCross Stage at Miller Plaza from Noon to 1 PM. The Rhythm & Noon concert series is sponsored by Chattanooga Coca-Cola Bottling, Cornerstone Community Bank, WTCI TV45 and Sunny 92.3. The Chattanooga Downtown Partnership’s Nightfall Concert this Friday, August 29th, will feature country music singer/songwriter Hal Ketchum. Nightfall is a FREE 17-week series held in Miller Plaza on Friday evenings through September 26th. Opening act Angel Snow will take the BlueCross Stage at 7:00 PM, followed by Hal Ketchum at 8 PM. Beer, wine, food and non-alcoholic drink concessions are available on site. No outside food or beverages are allowed. Kick off your Labor Day weekend with an evening full of music and dancing as the Chattanooga Downtown Partnership presents Swingfest on Saturday, August 30th, in Coolidge Park. Beginning at 5 PM, Swingfest will feature FREE swing dance lessons and three performances by some of Chattanooga’s largest swing orchestras. A wooden dance floor will be set up in front of the stage to encourage every generation of attendee to demonstrate their love of swing dancing. FREE 20-minute swing dance lessons will be held at 5:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. The music will begin at 5:30 p.m., with Uptown Big Band, followed by Swingtime Orchestra and Sweet Georgia Sound. The concert will conclude at approximately 9:45 PM. Swingfest is sponsored by BB&T, Chattanooga Coca-Cola Bottling Company, WTCI and Sunny 92.3.
